Thomas Dettmer

Dr. Tom Dettmer was born in Ironton, Missouri. He holds two undergraduate degrees from the University of Missouri, and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. 

Dr. Dettmer served in the United States Navy Medical Service Corps at Naval Hospital Groton, Connecticut, and Naval Medical Center Great Lakes, Illinois, before moving back to Missouri to establish his practice. Dr. Dettmer has now practiced Optometry in his home state for over 20 years.

Dr. Dettmer specializes in contact lenses and medical eye care. He has served as an investigator in multiple contact lens studies, including studying the use of contact lenses as a means for drug delivery in eye injury and disease.

Dr. Dettmer lives in Osage Beach with his wife, Jennifer, and three sons. He and his family enjoy outdoor sports including fishing on Lake of the Ozarks, and watching Cardinals baseball, Mizzou football, and Blues hockey.
